Welcome to the first Tradewinds post of the year!

Welcome to the first Tradewinds post of the year!

Apr 3, 2020

Welcome! We are delighted to be writing our post to let you know what’s going on here in the gallery in this strange new world! Firstly, let us introduce ourselves; we are Gail and Nadia, a mother daughter duo who will soon be re-opening Tradewinds, the family run gallery in Milford on Sea.

Given current global circumstances, the re-opening of the gallery has been postponed, however we will still be sharing with you all the lovely things which will be available in the shop when it opens, and on our online store even sooner!

Last week, Gail received ‘that letter’ from the NHS advising her to stay at home for three months…..but not one to remain idle, she will be channelling all of her energies into getting the gallery ready, and along the way we will be unveiling the fantastic artists which will be featured in Tradewinds.

For today’s pick, we have chosen an artist collective whose work is full of joy and positivity. Just what we all need now! ARTHOUSE Unlimited is a collective of artists living with complex epilepsy and learning disabilities and is also one of the charitable organisations which Tradewinds has chosen to support. Working alongside instructors, the artists create works which are developed into designer products.

We love their colourful designs, including mugs, bags, greeting cards and yummy chocolate which we will be stocking in the gallery. Something not to miss at the moment is the mix and match care packages which you can find on their website – a perfect gift for loved ones in isolation at the moment – www.arthouseunlimited.org . We recently shipped some of the ‘Turtletastic – avoid the plastic’ canvas shopper bags to the Provezza racing team (taking part in the 52 Super Series in South Africa), which were given to a group of students from The Skipper Foundation – Shaping Youths Lives www.skipperfoundation.co,za , who were visiting the boat.

We are not sure what the coming weeks are going to bring, but we hope that we can bring a little happiness into people’s lives by sharing works which have certainly brought a smile to our faces!

Stay safe and smiling x

Trade Winds Gallery are delighted to be part of the Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) 250 Club. SAS is a marine conservation charity working with communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and marine life. We are really proud to support the work that they carry out, such as beach clean ups, education and campaigning, and look forward to continuing to be part of the positive change!
