Colouring for All

Colouring for All

Jul 23, 2020

This week, Tradewinds have launched their Colouring for All project. We want lots of people to get involved, kids, parents, aunts, uncles, professional painters or people who haven’t coloured in decades! All you have to do is pop into our Milford shop and pick up one of our funky Arthouse colouring sheets, donate whatever you can in our charity pot, and then return your masterpiece to us when it’s completed! The work will be displayed somewhere in the Village at the end of the summer, so watch this space…

Why are we asking for people to get involved in colouring?

Well, firstly, it’s all for charity, and we like to support causes we believe in. Secondly, colouring is good for you (and we’re not just making this up)!

Colouring reduces stress

It has been proven that colouring reduces stress and anxiety. It puts your mind in to a meditative state, which allows your brain to create a state of mindfulness. The simple science behind this, is that when you are colouring, your amygdala (the part of your brain that is responsible for fear responses) relaxes, allowing you to calm your thoughts. It can also improve your motor skills, sleep and focus; pretty impressive for something you can do so easily.

The best thing about it is that you do not have to be an amazing artist to colour, so it’s a simple way for absolutely anybody to sit back, relax and unwind!

Trade Winds Gallery are delighted to be part of the Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) 250 Club. SAS is a marine conservation charity working with communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and marine life. We are really proud to support the work that they carry out, such as beach clean ups, education and campaigning, and look forward to continuing to be part of the positive change!
