Dawn Dance grew up in the rugged South West peninsular of Cornwall. She trained at Falmouth School of Art followed by a Fashion degree at Kingston Upon Thames. Dawn has taught a wide range of art and design-based courses in further and secondary education alongside running her own businesses as a decorative artist, antiques restorer and gilder. Dawn returned to Cornwall four years ago when she started to paint.
She is drawn to painting the wild West Penwith area of Cornwall, painting scenes which evokes her passion for the region; the loves the vast open skies, landscape shaped by the raw granite geology, small farms clinging to stony fields and the wild Atlantic sea. Mainly working with acrylics, this enables Dawn to work fast, build layers and incorporate texture, and she also loves the richness of oil paint.
