Debra Heywood

Throughout my life I have followed an artistic path in many different ways, working in floristry, antiques, watercolour and horticulture. I later trained in silversmithing at Morrab Art School, Penzance, where I learnt the basic techniques. From there I developed and honed my skills and many of the methods I use in my jewellery today are largely self-taught.

My studio overlooks Penzance Harbour and it is here I work designing and making bespoke jewellery by hand. I take pride in each individual piece and love letting my imagination and creativity take over, to create beautiful shapes, textures and patinas. I make all my earring hooks and clasps to create a completely handmade piece.

In 2013 I became a member of the Cornwall Craft Association and my work can be seen at their gallery at Trelissick House, Truro.

Trade Winds Gallery are delighted to be part of the Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) 250 Club. SAS is a marine conservation charity working with communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and marine life. We are really proud to support the work that they carry out, such as beach clean ups, education and campaigning, and look forward to continuing to be part of the positive change!
