Josephine Wadman has been making beads, and more recently jewellery, for almost 15 years. She initially started making jewellery with a friend which led to her discovering a passion for beadmaking, and the rest is history; she has been handmaking glass beads ever since.
‘Lampwork beads inspired by nature , created in a flame and made in Cornwall’ is how Josephine describes her ever changing work. She finds that working is glass in the flame is both exciting and fascinating.
There are many different looks and effects that can be achieved through the techniques she uses to create her beads; the light shining through beautiful transparent coloured glass, the ancient look of opaque glass treated in the flame to pit the surface, the exciting effects of some of the new silvered glasses.
Almost of all of Josephine’s beads are sold direct to makers however, she also supplies a small number of galleries with necklaces, bracelets and earrings she makes herself and we feel very lucky to be one of them!
