Lucy Jackson is a maker who loves exploring different materials and processes.
Lucy studied Fine Art painting at Winchester School of Art and her work includes mosaics, collage and paintings, textiles and sculpture. These days she shares her time between Portugal and Cornwall, both beautiful places, that feed her love of colour and nature.
Whilst doing up a very old house in Portugal she began using old tiles, pottery and found objects to create mosaics and now mosaics are her thing! Her charismatic birds and fish are bold and tactile combine Portuguese tiles and recycled crockery.
Alongside her own work Lucy spends much of her time facilitating creative workshops and projects for children. She works across Europe making recycled sculptures, animated films and much more with children of all ages. (www.childrensworkshops.net)
This community work also informs into her own practice.
’‘Working with children helps me remember that playing with materials is an important part of the creative process!”
