Millie Fry is a young artist, who has recently studied Art and Design at Arts University Bournemouth. Growing up and living on the South Coast has heavily influenced her art, which is hugely inspired by the sea’s power, energy, and movement. Using water as a stimulus has allowed her to translate her thoughts and emotions into psychical form.
Millie also takes huge inspiration from nature’s beauty in shape and colour, combining her visual inspiration with her emotions and fascination of the mind and soul to produce emotive works that aim to create a blissful distraction for the viewer.
Painting in oil and using mixed media, Millie enjoys layering the paint with the use of palette knives to create intriguing patterns in contrast with the soft blends of bright dreamlike colours. Through painting to a broad spectrum of music, the young artist sees her process as rhythmic and lyrical, something which she is able to capture in her work.
Millie finds painting in this style to be very therapeutic and expressive, as she believes that the abstract shapes she is creating aren’t bound to be one thing, and she enjoys this freedom of interpretation which her artwork permits.
