Paul Hoskin

Paul is an ornamental metalworker from Cornwall, who works in two main areas. The first is the traditional metal work which he creates, such as a gates and railings, however he also uses his considerable metalworking skillset to create distinctive art and craft work, such as candlesticks, clocks and mirrors.

The idea that scrapped everyday items that have come to the end of their ‘useful’ life can be transformed into something with a new purpose appeals to Paul and drives his passion. If the form of the art can also hide the furious activity needed in its creation, the better.

Generally working with ground steel and recycled copper, he adds welded/ braised detail which has been exquisitely coloured by the heat and is finally lacquered. As with all artists, Paul is always exploring with new methods and styles, and his creations and designs are continually evolving, each as wonderful as the last.
